My name is Gemma and I live near Wellington in Shropshire with my husband Tom and our two beautiful girls. I always enjoyed writing as a child and vividly remember writing a story called 'Eddy the Eel' aged just seven!
My aspiration was always to be a primary school teacher and I didn't waver from that throughout secondary school and college. I went on to study English and Education at university which combined my two great passions and in 2005 I began my teaching career in Harborne, Birmingham.

I met my husband Tom in 2008 and a few years later moved to Shropshire where we then got married. Our first daughter Georgia was born in 2014 and our second daughter Gracie arrived in 2017. It was weeks after Gracie's birth when Tom suddenly became chronically ill with M.E/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) which prompted me to write and publish my first rhyming story 'Supercharged Superhero'. There is more information about that here.

I teach part-time at a local primary school and particularly love teaching creative writing. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my girls, exploring the outdoors and reading stories together. I continue to write in my spare time and offer workshops and visits in schools and libraries where I share my experiences of being an author.

Most of the inspiration for my writing comes from my children. Each and every day they provide me with an abundance of ideas for future stories; many of which are very amusing! I also love the work of Nick Sharratt, Roald Dahl and Julia Donaldson.
